Position title: W. L. Kraushaar Professor of Astronomy and Physics
6281 Chamberlin Hall
I’m a theoretical astrophysicist with a specialty in plasma astrophysics; evolution of astrophysical magnetic fields, interstellar astrophysics, star formation, cosmic rays, and stellar physics.
I did my undergraduate work in Mathematics, at U. Chicago, and my graduate work in Astrophysical Sciences, at Princeton. I was a faculty member at U. Colorado from 1980 to 2003, when I moved to Wisconsin. I’m jointly appointed with Physics, and am currently Director of the center for Magnetic Self-Organization.
