AMT Colloquium

November 22 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Our speaker will be Prof. Christoph Federrath from the Australian National University. AMT Colloquium takes place every Tuesday at 10 AM virtually. Zoom link below.

Title: The role of turbulence, magnetic fields, and feedback for star formation

Abstract: Why do we care about turbulence and magnetic fields? I will try to explain in the context of star formation and show some (necessarily somewhat biased) work from our group on how turbulence, magnetic fields and feedback shape the interstellar medium and control the formation of stars. It will be a lot about theoretical and simulation advances on the fundamental statistics of turbulent flows, dynamos, the star formation rate, and the initial mass function, but also with comparison to observations.
