Re: diff_scheme, Growth Rate and Amplitudes

Hi Rich, thank you very much! This already helped me a great deal and I hope the paper will enlighten me concerning amplitudes. I have one further question though: Why is the COLLOC_GL2 more advisable than the GL4 or GL6 scheme? Is is just because of run time advantages? Or is there a completely di...

Alright, GYRE 5.1 seems to be working for the purposes I'm using it for, but if I encounter problems in the future I'll upgrade to 5.2
Fair enough -- it's worth noting that this will only ever be an issue if you're using the traditional approximation of rotation (TAR).

cheers,

Rich

Re: Tests fail, but GYRE works in MESA

My computer has an Intel Xeon processor E5-2630 v3 with 8 cores and 16 threads. It has 15 GB of RAM. I'm running GYRE 5.1 Ah -- that's likely your problem. GYRE 5.2, quoting from the release notes, "Fixed various memory errors arising when the traditional approximation is used on a many-core machin...

I'm running GYRE on a CentOS 7 linux machine
What processor type, number of cores, and RAM does your machine have?

Also, what version of GYRE are you using? It's possible that this problem can arise on many-core machines with older versions of GYRE.

cheers,

Rich

Re: diff_scheme, Growth Rate and Amplitudes

Hello dear GYRE users, I'm more or less new to GYRE and stellar oscillation physics in general so please excuse if my questions are a bit dumb. I have read as much about GYRE as the time frame of my master thesis allows me but there are still a few questions unanswered. I don't know if it would be ...

Hello, I've been using GYRE in MESA r10398 within the astero module, but I now want to get GYRE working separately from MESA. I've been following the instructions to get started but when I try to 'make test', I find that one of them fails. I get the following output: TEST numerics (rotation, tradit...

Re: Problem when installing: Error 127

Hello everyone, I am trying to install GYRE but I keep hitting the same error just after executing the command make : Determining dependencies /bin/sh: 1: fpx3_deps: not found /bin/sh: 1: fpx3: not found make[2]: *** [Make.inc:86: gyre.f90] Error 127 Does anyone know how to get passed it? Thank you...

Re: Segfault when prune_modes= .true.

The problem with this is that not all the summary data is available at that point (since we haven't yet calculated all the modes). This is less of a problem for TXT output (because we write that file line-by-line), but for HDF5 output we would have to continually re-write the file as new modes are ...

Re: Segfault when prune_modes= .true.

Would another potential solution be to write the summary data at the same time as the mode data? Or is this for some reason undesirable? I'm not expecting you to do this! Rather, I thought I might tinker around to see if I can manage to do it myself, but I'll pass if there's some reason you aren't ...
