Registration:
Please go to the Registration Page to register for the conference.
Registration cost is $120.00.
Deadline for early registration is May 1, 2006.
Note: A penalty of $25 will be added to registrations received after the deadline. A cancellation will result in a refund of registration fee minus $10.00 processing fee.
Payment options include credit cards (Visa or Mastercard only), personal checks drawn on a U.S. bank, and travelers checks. Checks should be made out to NRAO and mailed to the attention of: Terry Romero, NRAO, P.O. Box O, Socorro, NM 87801. If you prefer to use a credit card but do not want to fax or email the credit card information, you can call the information in to Terry Romero at: 505 835 7315. Purchase orders can not be accepted.

Please note that number of conference participants is limited to 60 people due to local constraints.

Transportation from Albuquerque Airport to Socorro:
NRAO is providing shuttle vans for meeting participants at the Albuquerque Airport on Saturday, May 20. These vans will depart from the airport at 2:15 PM, 4:30 PM, 8:00 PM, and 10:15 PM. All times are Mountain Daylight Time. Riders should obtain their luggage from baggage claim, and gather at the airport information booth near the exit doors. An NRAO rep (greeter) will connect you to the NRAO shuttle driver.

The NRAO rep (greeter) is Miller Goss or Jean-Pierre Macquart. Miller Goss can be reached at mobile telephone number (505) 363-1908 on Saturday if necessary. Contact him if your travel schedule changes. Miller can be easily spotted, as he will be wearing a VLA cap with a Winnie the Pooh pin!

Alternative (commercial) Transportation:
  • Rental Cars:
    There is only limited and expensive commercial transport between the Albuquerque Airport and Socorro and it is advisable to use rental cars. A shuttle bus outside the arrival area will take you to the car rental Center that serves all rental car agencies. Click here for Maps and Directions to reach Socorro and the AOC.
  • Socorro based taxi service:
    To book a taxi call American Transportation at: 1 505 835 4276 from outside the U.S., or toll free from the U.S.: 1 800 991 4276, Fax: 1 505 835 2677. A credit card will be required, and reservations should be made well in advance.
    The current rate is: Airport to Socorro $71.74, Socorro to Airport $69.71.
Transportation within Socorro:
During the days of the meeting, NRAO will provide shuttle transportation between the Holiday Inn Express and the SINS meeting site. The transportation will operate at 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM each morning, and up to one hour after the end of the meeting as needed. It's about a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel.

Return transportation to the Albuquerque Airport will be based on need after the end of the meeting on Wednesday, May 24, and Thursday morning, May 25. Departure times for a NRAO shuttle vehicle will be determined with information gathered regarding departure needs. Participants with rental cars may also provide rides back to the airport if appropriate.

Accommodations:
NRAO has blocked 50 rooms at Holiday Inn Express and there is a limited number of rooms available at the NRAO Guest House. Please make your lodging reservations as soon as possible.
  • NRAO Guest House
    Reservations for a room at the NRAO Guest House can be made through Visitor Registration Form.

  • Holiday Inn Express Motel
    Participants are responsible for contacting the motel and making their own reservation before 07 May 2006.
    Reservations at the Holiday Inn Express can be made by: Telephone Number: (505)838-0556 or, toll free from within the U.S. (888) 526 4567, Fax Number: (505) 838-0598. Please mention you are making a reservation off the NRAO-SINS block or mention one of the pickup numbers listed below to get the special block rate of $60.00 plus tax. Pick up numbers are: 62651523 (2 double beds) and 62652629 (1 king bed). Reservations at the Holiday Inn can also be made via the Web, however, the rate may be different than the one advertised for the NRAO block.

    Note: Be aware that the motel will charge an early check out fee of $30 if the date of checkout is earlier than the date you contract with the motel. A no-show fee (cost of first night) will be charged to your credit card for a guaranteed room if you don't check in on the first night of your contracted reservation.

    The Holiday Inn Express is located at 1100 California N.E., Socorro, NM, at the North end of Socorro, between McDonalds and Burger King. Features: continental breakfast, 24 hour desk, swimming pool, sauna.

Meals:
In addition to the conference dinner on Sunday, 21 May, a continental breakfast, lunch, morning and afternoon refreshments will be provided at the Array Operations Center, on each day of the conference. Special Events:
There will be a Conference Dinner on May 21, 2006.
A tour of the VLA is planned on the afternoon of May 24, 2006, the last day of the conference.

Access to e-mail and the WWW will be available at the AOC. Wireless service is available.
Visas:
Participants arriving from outside the USA should check with the nearest American consulate about visa requirements. If you need a supporting letter for your visa application, please contact Snezana Stanimirovic at sstanimi@astron.berkeley.edu.
Banking:
Be sure to change any foreign currencies into US dollars either in your home country or at a major US airport; currency exchanges are not available in Socorro. ATM units are found at local banks and other locations around Socorro.
