The first night of our climb we spent at Mandara Huts. Here I pose in the doorway with Verdiana Vedasto, one of my Mathematics students. In the background is Goodwill Nambaya, who would prove to be our group's most serious casualty when he contracted a case of altitude sickness high up on the mountain.
