Barred Magellanic Spirals (SBm) are noted for their pronounced
asymmetry -- usually a one-arm spiral
pattern emanating from the stellar bar that is offset
from the dynamical and photometric center of
the galaxy. Here's a false-color image of NGC
4618 (a prototypical SBm) taken with the S2KB
imager on the WIYN 3.5m. We are currently assessing
the role interactions play in driving the
apparent lopsidedness in Magellanic spirals
