How the telescope tracks:

The telescope tracks an object by moving the prime-focus instrument package, which includes the spherical aberration corrector, prime-focus instruments and fibers feeds. The images above show a computer-generated simulation of how the entrance-pupil fills the primary over the course of a target track (typically 3000-45000 sec) for the HET. SALT will have a larger entrance-pupil.
