Research Interests:

I study interstellar gas and dust with X-ray imaging and absorption spectroscopy. With imaging, I use Bayesian analysis to fit scattering halo surface brightness profiles for dust mass, grain size, spatial distribution, and dust-to-gas mass ratio. With spectroscopy, I study the fine structure in the photo-electric absorption edge of interstellar metals in order to constrain dust grain mineralogy. I apply my expertise with the Chandra HETG instrument and knowledge of the ISM to study the accretion flow of Sgr A*, the supermassive black hole at the center of our Galaxy.
