Research Interests:
I work with the use of graphical processing units to analyze the spectra of pulsating, binary, and patchy stars. At times, I've dabbled in stellar magnetospheres.
Biography:
I am a fourth year grad student working with Professor Rich Townsend on GPU computing in context of modeling stellar systems. Currently, I'm focusing on spectral analysis with pulsating and binary systems. While at UW-Madison, I've also worked in modeling X-ray emission from highly magnetized massive star magnetospheres, as one finds with sigma Ori E.
I received a B.A. with honors in physics from Grinnell College in May 2009 and my M.S. in Astronomy from UW-Madison in August 2011. In spring 2010, I was the Teaching Assistant for Astronomy 103 taught by Professor Matthew Bershady.
In my non-academic time, I can often be found going for a run, bike ride, or camping trip.
