Making a Galaxy in only 1 Million Hours

The Astronomy Department's Grainger Fellow, Alyson Brooks, is one of the creators of this NASA animation showing how galaxies are formed and grow over billions of years that is posted on Business Insider Science. What took billions of years to occur in the real universe was accomplished in just one million CPU hours on a supercomputer, and can be viewed in only 2 minutes and 16 seconds in the video below.
