2016 Stebbins Award

Dhanesh Krishnarao is the winner of the 2016 Stebbins Award.

The Stebbins Award honors a significant research achievement made during the previous year. In addition the Stebbins Award recognizes scientific independence, leadership and creativity; external recognition in papers and talks; and ability to communicate research to a scientific audience.
 
The award recognizes DK’s work “A Study of the Warm Ionized Medium throughout the Sagittarius-Carina Arm”. Quoting from the nomination: “The maps DK generated in the study isolate the warm ionized medium associated with the inner Sag-Car spiral arm and allow him to measure its properties over a large range of Galactic longitude and Galactocentric radius for the first time.”
