UW-Madison Graduate School
The UW-Madison Office of Graduate Admissions coordinates the application process for all graduate degree programs, ensures that minimum admission standards are maintained, and facilitates graduate student diversity. The Graduate School will evaluate your application for admission after the Department of Astronomy has recommended admission. Final admission is approved and processed by the Graduate School.

Unfortunately, neither the Department of Astronomy nor the Graduate School can waive the required application fee under any circumstances. Applications without the required fee cannot be processed. The same policy applies to incomplete applications.
Included in the University online application are the following essential components:
Statement on 'Reasons for Graduate Study'.
Three letters of recommendation from people well acquainted with your past academic work/research. Letters of Recommendation Process
Unofficial Transcript for US applicants, official transcript for international applicants (include a separate list of spring courses if not on the transcript)
GRE Scores (verbal, quantitative and analytical, as well as the subject test in physics)
TOEFL Scores (required for international applicants only)
If you are unable to submit any of these items electronically, please contact the Graduate Coordinator for assistance. Other options are to mail, email or fax (608-263-6386) materials to the Department of Astronomy, however, the Admissions Committee would then not have access to these materials when they review your online application.
All components of the application are essential for consideration of your application for admission.
The application deadline for Fall, 2015 admission is December 31, 2014.
