GLIMPSE Survey Progress

Survey Overview

The GLIMPSE Survey was performed in 8 "segments" of length ~15 degrees. Segments contain ~40 AORs. The nominal survey area is 10-65 deg and l=295-350 over latitudes |b|<1 deg. The exposure time per IRAC frame is 1.2 seconds and each direction in the GLIMPSE survey area was visited at least twice, providing a total exposure time of 2.4 seconds. The observations were stepped by half-frames along the long axis of the AOR.
The GLIMPSE survey observations began March 9, 2004 and completed November 1, 2004. Missing and bad frames will be re-observed in the coming year. Observation Strategy Validation (OSV) data were taken on December 23, 2003.
